It is the word resurface, or as most of us think of it, exfoliate or exfoliation.This has been quite the buzz word among skin care enthusiasts for the last 10 years and not without some controversy. Here are a couple of tid bits about exfoliation that might be of interest. Did you know?</p>
<p>-Exfoliation involves removing the oldest dead skin cells on the skin&#8217;s outermost surface.<br />
-In the Middle Ages, wine was the chemical exfoliant, with tartaric acid as the active ingredient.<br />
-There are chemical and mechanical types of exfoliation.<br />
-Improves complexion while increasing blood circulation.<br />
-Encourages growth of new skin.<br />
-Keeps skin clear and healthy looking.<br />
      Exfoliation has many benefits and there are a lot of great products to help you with the process. It is, however, important to speak with your skin care professional to find out what process and product is right for your skin. Remember, when exfoliating at home you want to avoid redness and irritation. This is a signal to back off on your exfoliaton.  </p>

<p>Research indicates that people who exercise fare better at coping with stress and avoiding the health complications that often follow stress.  It’s not just the stresses we face, but how we deal with them that affect us.  Exercise is the best antidote for stress.</p>
<p>Chronic stress is hidden in the little things you have to deal with every day which take an emotional and physical toll without you even knowing it.  (ie., traffic, constant noises, irritating cigarette smoke, relationships, being overweight, etc.)</p>
<p>When we are chronically stressed, we feel tired, depressed, and eventually get ill.  Studies show uncontrolled stress increases cortisol levels in our immune system.  Cortisol is catabolic to muscles and detrimental to our immune system.  Chronic stress is known to increase the risk of high blood pressure, clogged arteries, obesity, ulcers, diabetes, impotency and other illnesses.  When the body is under stress, hormones spew into the blood, increasing blood pressure, blood sugar, heart rate and muscle tension.  If these effects are allowed to increase, they will eventually enervate the body through anger, frustration and internal chaos.</p>
<p>If the chronic stress is not relieved, it could lead to invisible stress, the most lethal stress of all.  Invisible stress does it’s damage undetected until it’s effects show up in the form of illness, depression, etc.  By getting fit, you can stop the invisible stress.  .</p>
<p>Physical exertion puts to use those hormones released into the bloodstream as a result of stress.  By exercising, you employ the stress hormones pumping through your body, so you are not left fuming.  Vigorous exercise produces it&#8217;s own flow of juices-—endorphins.  This naturally occurring drug, produced by the body, can help reduce pain and even give you a feel-good buzz.  Exercise induced endorphins can be effective at alleviating stress.</p>
<p>When you strengthen muscles and improve your fitness level, you also condition the pituitary glands that produce endorphins and other calming chemicals.  That’s why fit people can deal so much better with stress.  Training those pituitary glands by exercising on a regular basis also means you’re better shielded against stress 24 hours a day.<br />
It is possible to survive and thrive in stressful environments.  There is no doubt anymore about the psychological advantages of regular exercise.  It’s great for self-esteem and helps alleviate, if not eradicate, depression, stress, anxiety and hostility.</p>
